About the Case:
At approximately 11:15 PM on September 04, 1989, Annamaria PHELPS and Daniel LAUER left Amelia County, VA enroute for Virginia Beach, VA. The two were traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 in Daniel LAUER’S 1973 Gold Chevrolet Nova Coupe. The following morning when it was realized that PHELPS and LAUER failed to arrive at their destination, family contacted the Virginia State Police to report them missing.
On September 05, 1989, at approximately 5:30 PM, Daniel LAUER’s vehicle was located by Virginia State Police, abandoned at the westbound rest area of Interstate 64 in New Kent County.
In the morning of October 19, 1989, remains were discovered by hunters in the woods approximately three miles east of the New Kent County rest area where LAUER’s vehicle was recovered in September. The remains were later determined to be those of Annamarie PHELPS and Daniel LAUER, both of which had been the victim of homicide.
