On September 5, 2001, landscapers found a deceased male behind residences in the 4700 block of Camellia Drive. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Robert Wilton Madison III. Madison was shot multiple times and was believed to have been deceased for about two days when he was discovered. Madison lived locally and was known to have contacts in Norfolk and Portsmouth.
