About the Case:
On July 2, 2019, at approximately 4:49 p.m., the Crewe Police Department received a report of an unresponsive male located beneath a truck in the alleyway near 211 Guy Avenue in Crewe, Virginia (23930). Upon arrival, personnel from the Crewe Fire Department and the Crewe Police Department discovered a deceased male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The individual was subsequently identified as Andrew Scott Newton, also known as “Scotty Newton,” of Chase City, Virginia.
The Virginia State Police responded to the scene and, during the preliminary investigation, determined that several individuals in the area reported hearing gunshots at approximately 2:00 p.m. that afternoon. Additionally, a motorcycle was reportedly observed in the vicinity around the time of the shooting. This time frame corresponds with when Mr. Newton was believed to have arrived at the alleyway.
Mr. Newton was known to frequent Crewe, Virginia where he would meet with friends, but it is not known who he was met with that day.
