About the Case:
On September 23, 1987, A beach comber found the bodies of Robin Margaret Edwards, age 14, and David Lee Knobling, age 20, located on the Ragged Island Wildlife Refuge in Isle of Wight County. Both victims died from gunshot wounds. The victims had last been seen alive on September 19, 1987. They were reported missing on September 21, 1987.

CASE UPDATE: On January 8, 2024, the Virginia State Police announced that Alan Wade Wilmer, Sr. was forensically identified as the person responsible for the deaths of Robin Edwards and David Knobling. Investigators ask the public that if anyone had any interactions with Mr. Wilmer to contact the Virginia State Police at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
