About the Case:

On October 19, 1995 between 1130 and 1145 hours, Joan Herndon, who was approximately 70 years old at the time, was robbed and murdered inside the small grocery store run by her and her husband.  At the time of the offense, the store was known as Herndon's Market, or Arvonia Produce, located in the small community of Arvonia in Buckingham County, Va.  The store, now closed, was a small one room country store located on the east side of Rt. 15 near the Buckingham and Fluvanna County line. Joan Herndon had been shot with a shotgun utilizing number 8 shot. There was a small amount of money taken from the cash register and no witnesses to the crime.
